A New Train of Thought

by Brooklyne Nickell

So many opinions
So many options
So many distractions
So many problems

So easily to stray off track
So easily to get off topic
So easily to be same old, same old

So much confusion
So much regret
So much to do, so little time

Maybe a new train of thought is in order?

A train track of possibilities awaits
New horizons and new beginnings
Dreams not forgotten, but ever-changing

Making day dreams a reality
Spontaneously mixing things up
Trying something for the first time

Looking back at the past to learn
Looking at the present to cherish
Looking towards the future with hope

Maybe a new train of thought is in order?

SPLIT, NOT BROKEN
by Keturah Lamb

If only our hearts
were truly broken;
fragmented parts
unable to be collected.

If only I was blind
to memories
clouding my mind;
of love that used to be.

But no, our separation
is made by choice.
Our pain our own creation,
spoken by our voice.

We tore our heart
We split it in two.
As if we could outsmart
love and start anew.

But no, we each own
half of what once was.
And with that the daily
ache of anguish.

Ragged lines separate
us, keeping our hearts
torn as we make hate
while all love departs.

Flying above, eventually

by Brooklyne Nickel

One brush stroke
That creates
A wisp, a feather
Of a ink world

One keyboard
A story
Takes roots, like trees
Of a ink world

Flying above, eventually

~~~
Artists turn
Mistakes into
Masterpieces
Of a ink world
Authors turn
Edits into
Fangirl confetti
Of a ink world
Flying above, eventually
~~~

Ink worlds always
Remember
Humble blotches
And meager drafts

Ink worlds never
Are confined
Breaking through all
Barriers

Flying above, eventually

A Fire That Cannot Burn

by Brooklyne Nickell

Rejoice still.
Though hardships engulf
As a searing flame,
She will not let that stop her.
For know one can take away
Her joyful noise.
Shine on, friend!

Rejoice still.
Though sorrows cloud
As a thick smoke,
She will not let that hold her back.
For know one can halt
Her song of praise.
Shine on, friend!

Rejoice still.
Though pain scorches
As the heat of a furnace,
She will not let that hinder her light.
For know one can take away
Her sweet melody.
Shine on, Friend!

Rejoice still.
Though depression threatens to overtake
As a lit match not yet smoldered,
She will not let that consume her joy.
For know one can end
Her contagious song.
Shine on, friend!

Rejoice still.
Though lies flicker
As a uncontrollable spark,
She will not let that make her give up.
For know one can discourage
Her shout of victory.
Shine on, Friend!

Rejoice still.
Though the dusty ashes remain
As a silent reminder,
She will not let that scare her off.
For know one
Can stop her now.
Shine on, Friend!

James 1:2-4
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
